The Hiring Process with St. Paul Medical Network
Looking for Medical Contract Work?
The process by which physician's assistants, nurse practitioners, registered Nurses, surgical technicians, and any other of our potential staff needs to follow is relatively simple and direct. Candidates will need to fulfill the basic requirements of the position - namely, having at least 2 years experience in the particular area being applied for,as well as being current with all licenses and certifications. Positions which are area specific, such as surgery and ICU, cannot be considered for professionals that do not have current experience in that particular discipline. Professionals with cross-over experience, such as med/surg to step-down RN's and surgical to GI technician positions may be considered, as the scope of practice can be carried over between different positions.
Your agency contact will need the following documents from you:
- An updated copy of your resume
- Three work references of recent associates
- A copy of your current licenseure, if applicable
Some candidates have testimonials written for them by their colleagues. SPMN encourages candidates to submit these documents along with their packet. Keep in mind, though, that these written testimonials must be no older than two years from the date of application.
Client Interviews
Should the client facility choose to interview the candidate, it is a good sign that they are interested in bringing them aboard. Interviews can be conducted in one of two ways - in person, usually at the hospital or medical facility, or as a phone interview. This process can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks, based on the availability of the managers and human resources staff and the number of applicants being screened. Also, there is a chance the client may choose an applicant solely based on their resume and references and may bypass the interview process.
Moving Forward with the Candidate
If the client site wishes to move forward with the applicant, then congratulations! The pairing of your skills and experience with the client's facility has been found to be beneficial. This next phase is dedicated to populate a packet of documents for the client's human resources department. This process can take several weeks, depending on how timely these documents can be completed and signed.
Some of the documentation your agency contact will be compiling are the following:
- Medical inoculation documentation (MMR, Titers, TB, etc.)
- OSHA documentation
- Patient safety
- Copies of Certifications
- Background check
- Healthcare provider check
- HIPPA guidelines
Once completed, the agency will have the candidate sign their contract and addendum. This will finalize the contract agreement.
